Densimeters PLOT-3


Densimeter PLOT-3 is designed for automatic measurement of density of liquids with a maximum kinematic viscosity up to 200 mm2/s (200 cSt) in a range of temperatures from minus 40 to plus 85°Ñ and transferring of measured values at a request to a controller of the measuring system or a personal computer through an interface “current loop” (RS-232, RS-485 using with adapters AD-1, AD-2).

Area of application

In the structure of automated accounting systems of clean homogeneous liquids in reservoirs at storage depots, where periodical distant measurement of density, temperature and kinematic viscosity of a liquid is requires, including reservoirs at petrol stations and petrol storage depots, at establishments of food and chemical industry.
Type of explosionproof - explosion-impermeable enclosure and spark-safe electrical circuit (IExibdllÂÒ5 together with a spark protection barrier "Bastion").

Principle of operation - vibratory: vibration frequency of the sensing element that is submersed into a liquid is functionally related with a density of the liquid, and quality factor of a vibrating system – with kinematic viscosity. As a thermometer serves a built-in standard platinum impedance transformer. Processing of data is made by a microcontroller of MCS-51 family of AT89C52 type.

Technical characteristics

Operating environment - clean homogeneous liquids with a kinematic viscosity 100 mm2/s (100 cSt) - stock-tank oil and products of its processing, alcohols, liquefied hydrocarbon gas, solvents and other liquids that are unaggressive to alloys 45ÍÕÒ, 12Õ18Í9Ò, 12Õ18Í10Ò.
Flow variant of the densimeter (PLOT-3-25, PLOT-3I-25) is designed for operation at liquid pressure up to 2,5 MPa (25 kilogram-force /sm2) and a peak flow 1,5m3/h.
Range of measured densities ......... from 420 to 1600 kg/m3.
Range of measured temperatures .......... from minus 40 to plus 85°C.
Range of measured viscosities ..........from 1,5 to 200 mm2/s (cSt).
PLOT-3 is charged from a DC source, installed outside the explosion hazard zone, through a spark protection barrier "Bastion" at voltage at the input of densimeter from 6,5 to 15 V, current consumption not more than 20 mA.
PLOT-3 receives control commands and transmits measured densities, temperatures and viscosities of the liquid through a channel of serial exchange of “current loop” type in the form of current pulses with a level of logical "1" from 5 to 20 mA and logical "0" from 0 to 0,1 mA with a transfer speed of 2400 bits/s.
Minimal overall dimensions and mass, four-wire link up to 2000 m length, low power consumption, modern elementary base. Calibration interval of PLOT-3 - 2 years.

Portable densimeter PLOT-3B-1R is designed for measurement of density and temperature of a liquid in reservoir (up to 25 m height), without collection of samples: reservoirs, tankers, rail tank cars, petrol stations reservoirs, tank trucks.
Allows to economize time at measurements, lower measurements errors that arise at sampling – this gives significant advantages at calculation of commodity mass of petrol and petroleum products.
Submersible sensor gives a possibility to continuously measure density and temperature of the liquid at various levels. Densimeter is compact, light-weight and convenient in operation.
